چکیده

In this paper a novel framework is presented for interactive feature-based retrieval and visualization of human statues, using depth sensors for mobile devices. A skeletal model is fitted to the depth image of a statue or human body in general and is used as a feature vector that captures the pose variations in a given collection of skeleton data. A scaleand twistinvariant distance function is defined in the feature space and is employed in a topology-preserving low-dimensional lattice mapping framework. The user can interact with this self-organizing map by submitting queries in the form of a skeleton from a statue or a human body. The proposed methods are demonstrated in a real dataset of 3D digitized Graeco-Roman statues from Palazzo Altemps.

Transitioning Tradition? Examining the Digitization of Cultural Practices

Over the last few decades, computing researchers have developed a wealth of new systems to maintain particular cultural resources. Computing platforms allow people to access high-resolution images of ancient cave paintings and Googleartwork; 3D scanning systems digitize Michelangelo’s sculptures and Pompeii’s remains [Levoy et al. 2000]; and haptic devices allow users to touch and feel ancient ...

From Low-Cost Depth Sensors to CAD: Cross-Domain 3D Shape Retrieval via Regression Tree Fields

The recent advances of low-cost and mobile depth sensors dramatically extend the potential of 3D shape retrieval and analysis. While the traditional research of 3D retrieval mainly focused on searching by a rough 2D sketch or with a high-quality CAD model, we tackle a novel and challenging problem of cross-domain 3D shape retrieval, in which users can use 3D scans from low-cost depth sensors li...
